Avenida Italia and Barradas traffic interchange project

Avenida Italia is one of the main accesses to Montevideo, with traffic that can exceed 40,000 vehicles per day in summer. High congestion and multiple maneuvers at the intersection necessitated a remodeling to improve safety, user comfort and landscaping.

Tasks we perform

Our project included a series of detailed technical studies:

  • Traffic and accident studies to understand the dynamics of vehicular flow.
  • Topographic studies and surveys of services and public use strip.
  • Geotechnical studies for road works and foundations of structures.
  • Analysis of alternatives for the design of the interchange, together with the geometric and pavement layout project.
  • Design of signage, fenders, bicycle lanes and sidewalks.
  • Structural design of the viaduct and tunnel alternatives.
  • Drainage and pumping project, and lighting and electrical projects.
  • Landscaping and gardening project.
  • Environmental Impact Study and preparation of drawings, reports and specifications.

The executive project included the final design, cost estimate, environmental impact study and definition of the construction conditions.
