In the Namibe province, a semi-desert region of Angola, water scarcity is a challenge. As part of the “Water for All” program, we were contracted to develop the detailed designs of drinking water supply systems for 18 localities in the municipalities of Camucuio and Bibala.
Our project was structured in several key stages:
Given the lack of permanent surface water sources, we conducted comprehensive hydrogeological studies to locate and determine groundwater sources. We also surveyed all existing infrastructure to understand the current situation. As a result, we obtained a complete diagnosis and a projection of water needs for the future.
At this stage, we preliminarily evaluated the water resources and defined the raw water source. We established design criteria and general supply solutions for a 20-year horizon.
In the final stage, we designed the drinking water supply solutions. This included:
Finally, we prepared the Bidding Instructions, Terms of Reference and Technical Specifications for the contracting of the works.
This project allowed us to create a comprehensive and sustainable solution for the provision of water in one of the most challenging regions of Angola, guaranteeing access to this vital resource for thousands of inhabitants.
