Environmental studies for the development of four onshore exploration wells

We were hired to process the environmental authorizations for four exploration wells of Schuepbach Energy Uruguay. The wells, located in the departments of Salto, Paysandú and Tacuarembó, are part of the Salto and Piedra Sola blocks.

Our objective was to prepare the Project Communication to the environmental authority to request the Prior Environmental Authorization. To do so, we described the environment, with a particular focus on the hydrogeological characteristics.

Our evaluation focused on the following aspects:

  • Aquifers and watercourses: We model the functioning of aquifers, analyzing recharge, discharge and flow directions to understand the potential impacts of drilling on groundwater and surface water sources.
  • Cultural heritage: We evaluate the possible impact on the historical and cultural heritage of the area.
  • Acoustic impact: We analyzed the increase in sound pressure during drilling.
  • Social perception: We studied how the community might perceive the project.

We placed special emphasis on the environmental prevention and contingency measures that would be implemented throughout the drilling operation.

This project allowed us to provide the necessary documentation for Schuepbach Energy Uruguay to apply for environmental authorizations for its exploration wells, ensuring that the process complied with environmental protection requirements.
