Water resources and drinking water
Water and sanitation master plans and projects in localities in Angola

We worked as technical advisors in the Master Plans and detailed designs to solve sanitation and drinking water supply problems in five localities in the provinces of Bié, Cuanza Sul and Malanje, in Angola. The project was developed with a 25-year horizon.

Our work was divided into several stages:

  1. Diagnosis and Preliminary Studies: We collected and processed existing information for each study area. The result of this stage was a complete diagnosis of the current situation and a projection of future needs.
  2. Master Plans: We define the general solutions for drinking water supply and sanitation, planning for a 25-year horizon.
  3. Detailed Design: Based on the solutions we found, we designed the necessary facilities to solve the water supply problems. This included:
    • The design of five surface water intakes with their respective water treatment plants.
    • Adduction pipelines between 800 and 3,000 meters in length.
    • Reserve tanks.
    • Distribution networks, including chafarices (collective supply points) and household connections.

We also designed the sanitation systems, which included latrines and tanks for individual dwellings, and collective changing rooms with treatment systems.

The project also included a cost study and the preparation of the Terms of Reference and Technical Specifications for the future contracting of the works.

This project allowed us to contribute our technical expertise to plan and design essential infrastructure that will improve the quality of life of communities in Angola.
