We have managed the construction of a forest nursery for UPM/Forestal Oriental, located near Guichón, in the department of Paysandú, Uruguay. This nursery is designed to produce 15,000,000 eucalyptus seedlings per year, with the capacity to expand to 20,000,000. The project included a greenhouse of more than 5 hectares of covered area. As a result, we delivered all bidding documents and drawings, as well as the necessary technical specifications.
Our Scope in the Project
Our tasks ranged from soil movement and site preparation to building construction and installation of key systems. Some highlights of our work included:
- Water Systems: We implemented potable water services, a recirculating irrigation system supplied by a stream, and an effluent treatment system.
- Infrastructure: We designed a polder with a capacity of 150,000 m³, in addition to sanitation, drainage and rainwater systems.
- Construction: We carried out the construction of 3,000 m² in buildings, concrete beds for mother plants, rolling tables and rails for transporting seedlings, and an Olympic fence.
- Electrical Installations: We take care of the electrical project and the lightning protection system.
- Environmental Control: We design the climate control system for the greenhouses, including heating, thermal conditioning and ventilation of the buildings.
Project Management
In addition to the engineering tasks, we were also responsible for project management. Our work in this area included:
- Bidding and Contracting: We carry out the calls for bids and analyze the bids submitted.
- Coordination and Control: We take care of the scheduling of the work, the coordination of the contractors and the quality control of the execution on site.
The successful development of this forestry nursery strengthens our experience in infrastructure projects for the industrial sector, demonstrating our ability to manage complex projects from design to execution.
