Environmental Impact Study of wastewater treatment plant

We are working on the construction of a new domestic effluent treatment plant for the city of Santa Lucía. The new plant will be located on a site 300 meters from the current facility, outside the river flood zone.

The project includes the modernization of the treatment system. The secondary process will be modified to extended aeration, tertiary treatment and disinfection will be incorporated, and sludge treatment will be redesigned. New units will also be built to increase treatment capacity. The existing plant will be reused as a pumping station and some of its disused units will be dismantled.

Our work focused on two key aspects:

  • Landfill study: We carry out a diagnosis of the current situation and delimit the landfill area. Then, we define the best alternative from the technical, economic and socio-environmental points of view.
  • Environmental Authorization: We prepare and submit the necessary reports to the national authority to obtain the Preliminary Environmental Authorization for the execution of the work.

This project allowed us to design an efficient solution for the city’s sanitation, guaranteeing compliance with environmental regulations and the protection of the Santa Lucía River.
