Transportation and mobility
Optimization of public transportation management in the cities of Rivera, Salto and Tacuarembó.

The work was based on a diagnostic stage that analyzed the current situation in each city, using information from the municipalities, transport operators and other relevant stakeholders, together with field surveys.

Our work was structured in two stages:

  • Information gathering and analysis: We gather, clean and analyze data to create a detailed diagnosis of the system.
  • Recommendations: Based on the diagnosis, a team of experts developed a series of recommendations.

The study covered several key areas:

  • Demand and supply: We analyze the demand for services, existing routes and the scheduling of services.
  • Management and costs: We study the cost structure, tariff model and financial viability of the operation.
  • Fleet and human resources: We analyze the specifications of the vehicle fleet and human resources.
  • Regulation and gender: We evaluated the institutional and regulatory aspects of public transportation. We also incorporate a gender perspective in our analysis.
  • Findings and recommendations: We identified problems and proposed recommendations to improve management and operation in each city, as well as strategies to address unmet demand.

This project provided a roadmap for modernizing public transportation in these three cities. This will allow for more efficient management and services that are more responsive to citizens’ needs.
