Blumenau socio-educational care center

We developed the preliminary design of a socio-educational detention center for adolescents in conflict with the law in the city of Blumenau. For this purpose, we worked on the needs program of the Socio-educational Care Center (CASE), which allowed us to define the architectural proposal with capacity for 150 adolescents, of which 60 correspond to female adolescents and 90 to male adolescents.

The project contemplated a comprehensive set of facilities that included a hospital block, school, cells, dining room, visiting rooms, administrative block, workshops, among other fundamental spaces to guarantee both the security and social reintegration of the inmates.

As an added value to the architectural development, we performed an international benchmarking in order to incorporate the best practices reported worldwide in the design of this type of centers. In addition, we prepared a structural blueprint, a soil movement study, a risk matrix, an equipment blueprint and a general construction budget.

With this work we lay the foundations for a modern and responsible socio-educational center, conceived not only as a space for containment, but also as an opportunity for education and social reintegration. The impact of the project is reflected in the possibility of providing a more humane and safe environment, aimed at transforming the lives of adolescents, thus contributing to the welfare of the community as a whole.
