Water resources and drinking water
Conducting studies on the Paso Severino dam.

We analyzed for OSE the feasibility of placing inflatable gates on the spillway of a dam. The objective was to increase its water storage capacity.

What our study covered

We divided the project into four parts:

Part I: Dam studies

We studied how the dam would behave with a higher water level. We analyzed the stability of the dam and the impact of the gates on spillway efficiency, both inflated and deflated. For this, we used mathematical and physical models.

Part II: Executive project

We prepared the executive project and technical specifications for the bidding process. This included the design to raise the embankment and the configuration of the bleeder. We also projected the repair of the slopes.

Part III: Technical advice

We provided follow-up and technical advice to OSE during the inflatable gates project and their assembly.

Part IV: Emergency plans

We prepare emergency, safety and operation plans for the dam, considering new scenarios.

Our studies allowed SBI to make an informed decision on the feasibility of inflatable gates. This helped evaluate a technical solution to increase water storage capacity in the dam.
