Consulting services for traffic surveys

We conducted a traffic data survey for the evaluation of MCA-H transportation projects in the road network of Honduras. Our objective was to obtain the necessary information for the analysis of these projects.

What did we do in the project?

The tasks performed included:

  • Traffic counts: We conducted 12- and 24-hour classified counts at 68 points to determine traffic volume, vehicle type and number of passengers.
  • Origin-Destination Surveys: We conducted some 35,000 driver surveys at 68 sites along the Honduran road network.
  • Speed measurement: We measure traffic speeds using the floating vehicle method.
  • Software development: We created a PDA application for the Origin-Destination surveys and designed a customized database to store the information. We also developed a data entry software with a double entry control system.

Then, we export the information in SAS and STATA formats and elaborate 28 tables and reports according to the client’s requirements.

Scope of the project

We processed and cleaned approximately 35,000 origin-destination surveys, data from 68 counting stations and speed information from 30 stretches. We delivered a complete database with the information collected in the field, summary reports and databases in SAS and STATA export formats.

Project impact

The collection and processing of these data provided a robust information base for the H-CAM. This facilitated informed decision making for the development and evaluation of transportation projects in Honduras.
