In consortium with SUL, we were contracted by the construction company Puentes for the detailed design of the rehabilitation and expansion of the Sumbe water treatment plant in Angola. The objective was to increase the plant’s capacity from 100 to 575 m³/h. Puentes was in charge of the execution of the works under contract with the National Water Directorate (DNA).
Our work included the hydraulic, structural, electrical and control design for the following components:
We sought to maximize the use of existing units for efficient infrastructure utilization. For example, flocculators were designed into existing settling units, filters were modified to handle the increased flow, and existing tanks were reused for other purposes.
This project allowed us to contribute to the improvement of the water infrastructure in Sumbe, ensuring a larger and more efficient drinking water supply for the community, while optimizing existing resources.
