Environmental studies for the installation of a lime plant in Treinta y Tres, Uruguay

We are working on planning the installation of a new lime plant in Cerro Méndez, in the department of Treinta y Tres. The plant will use limestone as raw material and will be located on an area of approximately 25 hectares.

The plant will have an initial production capacity of 500 tons of lime per day, with a projected future expansion to 1,000 tons per day within seven years. Total investment is estimated at US$65 million, and production will be destined primarily for the Brazilian market.

The plant process will include crushing and screening the limestone, stockpiling and transporting the material, and preparing and calcining it in a kiln.

Project Scope

  • Environmental Feasibility: In November 2012, the environmental authority (DINAMA) declared the project’s location feasible.
  • Environmental License: In April 2014, we obtained the Preliminary Environmental Authorization, which allowed us to begin construction of the plant.

This project allowed us to design a new industrial infrastructure that seeks to be a key player in the sector, contributing to the economic development of the Treinta y Tres region.
