Our consulting services consisted of the complete executive project of the double lane of Avenida Wilson Ferreira Aldunate, between Arroyo Carrasco and the access to the Carrasco International Airport (AIC). We also covered the double lane of Route No. 101 to Route No. 102 and the double lane of the Interbalnearia Route from Route No. 101 to kilometer 23 of Route No. 200.

What our work covered

The project included several key works:

• Bridge over Carrasco Creek: We reinforced the existing bridge and designed a new two-lane bridge.
• Wilson Ferreira Aldunate Avenue: We designed 4.3 km of dual carriageway, with an urban section of 2.8 km and 9 intersections, 3 of them with traffic lights.
• Route No. 101: We are planning 2.1 km of dual carriageway with special turning basins at relevant intersections.
• AIC Interchange: We designed an overpass interchange at the access to the new passenger terminal. The 190-meter structure has 400-meter-long retaining walls.
• Route No. 101 and 200 Interchange: We designed an overpass interchange where Route No. 200 passes in a trench and Route No. 101 is divided into two branches, one at grade and the other over the trench, with a 75-meter structure without intermediate supports.
• Route No. 200: We are planning 2.1 km of double track with 3 junctions that include turning basins and access roads.

In addition, we performed soil studies with borings for the structures, demand studies and O/D matrices, capacity and level of service analysis at the intersections, and an accident analysis. The project also included social, pedestrian mobility and environmental impact studies.

Project impact

The planning of these works modernized a key road corridor. This improved safety and traffic flow on access to Montevideo and the airport, providing a comprehensive solution to the growing demand for mobility in the area.
