Executive project for the expansion of Maltería Oriental plant

We were hired by Maltería Oriental S.A. for the detailed engineering design of their plant in La Paz, Montevideo. The objective was to expand production to 140,000 tons of malted beverage per year.

The expansion project included the design of two main buildings: the germination building and the drying building.

  • Germination Building: We designed a cylindrical tower of 24 meters in diameter and 50 meters high, with 7 levels of reinforced concrete. Also an annex building of 175 m² with 10 levels, including metal structures and accesses for personnel.
  • Drying Building: We designed a cylindrical building 30 meters in diameter and 9.6 meters high, with concrete walls and roof supported by a metal dome. In addition, we designed an annex building of 910 m² and 3 levels, with a reinforced concrete structure.

In addition to architectural designs, we also take care of:

  • Infrastructure: The design of the general layout, soil movement, pavements and drainage.
  • Fire protection: We design the protection system.
  • Documentation: We prepare all documents for bidding and construction: plans, specifications, memories and lists of materials.
  • Procedures: We process the construction permit with the Intendencia de Montevideo and advise the client in the bidding and contracting process.

This project provided a complete engineering basis for the expansion of an industrial plant. This allowed for an efficient construction process and an expansion of malt production.
