Sanitation and Drainage, Water resources and drinking water
Feasibility studies: Expansion of water and sewerage, Paraíso Alto, Lima

In response to the accelerated urban and population growth, especially in the peripheral areas of Lima such as the district of Villa María del Triunfo, we worked on a project to improve the quality of life of its residents. A large part of the population in this area did not have access to basic drinking water and sewerage services, relying on water trucks and latrines, which increased the risk of waterborne diseases.

Given this situation, we were contracted by SEDAPAL to develop the pre-investment studies (profile and feasibility) for a water and sanitation project in 28 human settlements in the Paraíso Alto Sector, covering an area of 43 hectares.

Project Scope

Our work was divided into two main components: a social component with the beneficiary communities and a technical component that included the design of the following systems:

Potable Water System

We designed a system to expand the water supply in the area, which included:

  • The construction of two reservoirs of 350 m³ each.
  • The installation of 3.2 km of ductile iron trunk lines.
  • The expansion of two existing pumping stations and the construction of two intermediate cisterns of 15 m³ each.
  • The design of 4.2 km of transmission lines.
  • The installation of 19.2 km of secondary distribution networks in HDPE.

Sewerage System

Given the topographic characteristics of the area, we designed a condominial sewerage system that would later be connected to a conventional system. The planned works included:

  • 12.5 km of condominial networks with HDPE pipes.
  • 5.1 km of conventional networks in HDPE for final discharge.

This project allowed us to lay the foundation for an integrated solution to the water and sanitation challenges, contributing to the health and well-being of thousands of families in Villa María del Triunfo.
