Urban Development, Water resources and drinking water
Neighborhood Improvement Program, San Antonio

As part of the Neighborhood Improvement Program, we were hired to regularize the San Antonio IV settlement in Maldonado. The neighborhood had 1289 residents living in 435 housing units. Our work included both the social component and the physical infrastructure.

In the infrastructure area, we addressed several aspects:

  • Urban planning: We designed a new land distribution, including the opening of streets. This required the relocation of 80 housing units that were located on future public spaces.
  • Sanitation and potable water: We designed a 939 m sanitary sewer network and a 325 m potable water network.
  • Stormwater drainage and roadways: We designed the rectification of the stream crossing the settlement. We developed a stormwater collector system with curbs and gutters, covering 675 m of streets.
  • Power supply and street lighting: We carried out the replacement and extension of the entire internal power distribution system. We implemented 335 new service connections. We also designed the extension of public street lighting with LED technology.
  • Urban forestry: We designed a tree planting project for the streets and public spaces.
  • Public spaces: We designed a 4300 m² linear park along the stream. The park included playgrounds, tables, and benches. We also designed two pedestrian bridges across the stream.

On the social side, we conducted a neighborhood census and developed a social development plan.

The infrastructure planning improved living conditions in the neighborhood. The project provided comprehensive solutions for urban reorganization and basic services.
