We were hired to develop the executive project for two new bridges and the improvement of 4.5 km of Route 30 in the department of Artigas. The main objective was to guarantee the unsinkability of the section and improve its layout.
The project included the design of two bridges: one over Arroyo Cuaró, 600 meters long, and the other over Cañada La Comisaría, 80 meters long. For 3.5 km of the route, we created a new layout to eliminate sharp curves and improve visibility, allowing a design speed of 110 km/h.
For the design of the bridges, we carried out topographic, soil, hydrologic and hydraulic studies. We use Hec-Ras software for the hydraulic modeling of the structures.
The project included a series of specific tasks. We carried out topography and expropriation studies. We were in charge of the executive road project, the structural design of the bridges, and the integration of the road, structural and hydraulic projects in a BIM model. This model allowed us to analyze possible interferences and quantify the works. We also prepared an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
Project impact
The planning of these new bridges and the improvement of the road ensured a safer and more reliable road connection. This solved flooding problems and improved traffic conditions in the area.
