We worked on the development of the Water and Sanitation Master Plan for the city of Uíge, capital of the province of the same name in Angola. The objective was to create a planning tool for the 2030 horizon, considering the population growth from 530,000 to 800,000 inhabitants.
Tasks Performed
To achieve this goal, we perform several key tasks:
- Diagnosis and Projection: We analyze the current situation of water and sanitation services. Then, we project population and urban growth to estimate the future demand for these services.
- Water Resources Assessment: We studied the region’s water resources to identify the source that will supply future system expansions.
- Works Design: We define the works necessary to expand the drinking water and sanitation systems.
- Preliminary design and documentation: We prepared the preliminary design of the works identified for the first stage. We drafted the technical specifications and the bidding documents for the call for bids for the execution of the works.
- Environmental Assessment: We conducted an environmental assessment to ensure the sustainability of the works in the first stage.
Project Outcome
Our work provided Angola’s National Water Authority with a detailed and comprehensive planning tool for water management until 2030. In addition, we provided the necessary documentation to enable the call for tenders for the execution of the priority works.
This project allowed us to contribute to improving the infrastructure and planning for the future of the city of Uíge, ensuring access to essential services for its growing population.
