Water resources and drinking water
Drinking water demand study in Maldonado

We were contracted to carry out a comprehensive study on potable water demand in the Department of Maldonado, with projections through the year 2045. Our objective was to define the current situation and, from there, outline at least two possible scenarios of evolution for the years 2025, 2035, and 2045.

To conduct this analysis, we based our work on a variety of data and key information, including:

  • Population and economic analysis: We assessed previous studies and the economic outlook of the region, considering the most relevant activities in the area.
  • Land use planning instruments: We took into account existing regional and local plans, as well as the forecast of major infrastructure projects that could affect water demand.
  • Seasonality: We considered the unique seasonal dynamics, since they influence water demand through the main economic activities and socioeconomic conditions.
  • Historical data: We analyzed the evolution of potable water connections and consumption statistics.
  • Water losses: We studied the current state and projected trends of physical water losses in the supply systems.

This study allowed us to generate a comprehensive planning tool for water management in Maldonado, with the aim of ensuring future supply.
