Salinas Exchanger

We developed the executive project for the traffic interchange at the access to Salinas beach resort. The study focused on the intersection of Ruta Interbalnearia and Ruta 87.

Tasks performed

To carry out the project, we performed a series of technical tasks. We conducted topographical, soil, hydrological and hydraulic studies. We were in charge of the geometric design of the interchange and the 6-lane structure, as well as the reinforced soil walls.

In addition, we designed the drainage system and the pavement design. We studied and proposed the traffic detours that would be used during the work, and we made the estimation of metrics. We prepared all the necessary construction documents and created a three-dimensional model of the project.

What the project covered

The solution we designed consists of raising the Interbalnearia Route over Route 87 with a reinforced soil embankment. For the rotary crossing at the level of Route 87, we designed a 40-meter long structure with an intermediate support in the center median.

The interchange allows all vehicular maneuvers through four connecting branches and a rotary junction on Route 87. We also included service roadways on both sides of the Interbalnearia Route and pedestrian sidewalks at the rotary junction, complying with accessibility regulations.

The design contemplated the future expansion of the accesses and the structure to 3 lanes in each direction. To adapt to the existing public strip, we designed vertical slopes that were resolved with reinforced soil and concrete blocks. In addition, due to the low slopes and limited space, the complex storm drainage was solved with special catchment and conduction structures.

Project impact

The detailed planning of this interchange improved traffic flow and safety at a key point. Our design anticipated future expansion and optimized the use of available space, ensuring a safe and efficient connection.
